Rainy weather played havoc with River Bluff's postseason schedule last week, pushing its second-round playoff match against Ashley Ridge back two days, and, consequently, its third-round match versus Wando to the very next day.
The Gators didn't seem affected in the least in their match against Ashley Ridge, though, making quick work of the Swamp Foxes 6-0.
The round three contest proved otherwise, however.
The three-seed Wando Warriors rolled in on Friday and rolled out with a 5-1 win, ending the Gators' season in the third round of the SCHSL AAAAA-Division I Lower State playoffs.
Despite being unable to make a repeat trip to the state championship match, River Bluff enjoyed yet another successful season, going 16-8 with a challenging schedule and 9-1 in Region IV-AAAAA play, earning a share of the region crown. Next season, the young Gator squad will look to maintain its standing as an elite women's tennis program in the state.
