Women's Soccer: Late Goal Ends Gators' Season in Lower State Semis

River Bluff's women's soccer team fell to Lexington 2-1 in the SCHSL AAAAA-Division I Lower State Semifinals on Tuesday night at Lexington High School.

The Gators struck first when Brooke Ogorek sent a pass to Belle Bryant, who was streaking down the left flank. Bryant promptly scored on an open goal to put River Bluff up 1-0 with 17 minutes to play in the first half.

Lexington scored on a free kick with six minutes to go in the first half to even the score at 1-1.

As the match appeared to be heading into overtime, the Wildcats were awarded another free kick with just five minutes remaining in the match, which they converted to take a late 2-1 lead.

Despite a flurry of desperate attempts in the waning minutes of play, the Gators could not score the equalizer, and saw their season come to a close. River Bluff finished the season at 13-5-3 and another deep run in the postseason.
