Women's Soccer: Gators Move On To Lower State Semis with 1-0 Win at West Ashley

River Bluff's women's soccer team advanced to the SCHSL AAAAA-Division I Lower State Semifinals with a 1-0 win over West Ashley Friday night.

A defensive battle, the match was scoreless until, with twelve minutes remaining in the first half, Bela Charriez spotted Summer Rios to her left, streaking into the box. Charriez sent the ball across to her teammate and Rios dribbled once, sized up her shot, and sailed the ball past the West Ashley goalkeeper for what would become the winning goal.

From there, the Gators simply had to rely on their staunch defense to maintain the lead, which they did for the remainder of the match.

With the win, River Bluff advances to face familiar foe Lexington in the Lower State semis. The number two-seed Wildcats defeated Cane Bay on Friday night. The Gators and Wildcats will square off on Tuesday night at Lexington High School.
