River Bluff unleashed an offensive onslaught against Cardinal Newman Friday night in The Swamp while shutting out the Cardinals to earn a lopsided 6-0 win.
The Gators put two on the board in the first half. Junior Anna Allen scored the first goal of the game on an assist from senior Brooke Ogorek at the 38-minute mark. Senior Brooke Walker scored next with four minutes remaining in the half on a pass by Abby Stiles.
Allen would score the first goal of the second half as well, this time with help from junior Summer Rios with 38 minutes to go in the game. The Gators would increase its lead to 4-0 at the 15-minute mark.
Then, sophomore Shelby Lamb struck true on an assist from fellow sophomore Mallory Marchant to put the Gators up 5-0 with ten minutes to go.
Finally, Rios put the final nail in the Cardinals' coffin on an assist from freshman Elizabeth Winegardner with a minute remaining, giving the Gators a 6-0 victory.
Addison Slinkard earned another goalkeeper shutout for the Gators.
River Bluff moves to 4-1-2 on the season as they head into region play, which opens Tuesday, March 17, at White Knoll.
