After ending regulation play of Thursday's opening round match of the 2026 Viking Cup in a 0-0 tie with Gray Collegiate, River Bluff's women's soccer team could only muster a goal during penalty kicks and Gray advanced 3-1.
The Gators hit the pitch bright and early Saturday morning to face Legion Collegiate Academy at 8 a.m. River Bluff responded well, taking down the Lancers 2-1.
In that game, Abby Stiles scored first for the Gators on an assist from Brooke Walter with 22 minutes to play in the first.
Then, with two minutes remaining in the first, Mila Charriez scored a solo goal to give River Bluff a 2-0 lead. Legion Collegiate put one on the board midway through the final period and that's where the score would remain for the duration.
Later that day, River Bluff faced Greenville and played the Red Raiders to another 0-0 tie.
As a result, River Bluff went 1-0-2 in the 2026 Viking Cup and has that same record for their season. Next up is a visit to The Swamp from West Ashley on March 3rd. This will be a women's and men's varsity night where the women's match will kick off at 6 p.m. and the guys will follow around 7:30.
