Women's Golf: River Bluff Qualifies for State Championship with 3rd-Place Finish in Lower State Tourney

River Bluff's varsity women's golf team came in third place on Monday at the AAAAA-Division I Lower State Tournament at Wedgefield Country Club in Georgetown. That finish earned the Gators a trip to the two-day SCHSL AAAAA-Division I State Championship, held at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg from Monday, October 27 to Tuesday, October 28.

The Gators finished 26 strokes behind Lexington and 16 behind Carolina Forest.

River Bluff was led by freshman Kelly Huang, who shot a 76 to finish in sixth place overall. Following Huang was sophomore Charli Heaton, who struggled on the back nine after a brilliant 36 on the front to finish tied for ninth with a 79. The two Gator juniors, Merritt Wham and Emery Jones, both shot 85s, ending tied for 17th, while eighth-grader Grace Shelly finished tied for 21st with an 89.
