River Bluff's varsity volleyball team won five of seven matches at the Wando Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday, earning the Gators the Silver Division Championship. The two-day tourney featured some of the top volleyball programs in the state, serving as a solid primer for the upcoming postseason.
The Gators won twice as many sets as they lost (12-6) and came within a few crucial points of going undefeated in the tournament. Caroline Tucker and Kinsey Murphy were named to the All-Tournament team.
The high level of competition that River Bluff faced over the weekend is nothing new for the Gators. Outside of region play, the Gators consistently challenge themselves against top programs as often as possible in tournament-like scenarios. This prepares the team for a playoff run, which the Gators hope goes very deep this postseason.
River Bluff wraps up the regular season with two region matches this week. They face Chapin at home on Tuesday and Lexington on the road on Thursday. The Gators have already clinched the Region 4-AAAAA crown, but are looking to complete an undefeated season in region play.
