River Bluff's men's lacrosse team outscored Lakeside 12-1 in the second half en route to a 20-6 blowout Friday night in The Swamp to start their 2026 campaign.
Jackson Register led the Gators with six goals and Banks Smith added five goals to go along with his three assists. Michael Shields won 23 of his 28 faceoffs to give the Gators a big offensive advantage.
A close first quarter ended with a 3-2 lead for River Bluff. The Gators extended it to an 8-5 advantage by halftime. In the second half, however, the home team found its groove, scoring seven in the third and five in the fourth while only allowing one goal from the visitors.
The win puts the Gators at 1-0 on the season. River Bluff will be tested Monday night as perennial power AC Flora comes to The Swamp. The men's JV game will start at 5:30 and the varsity matchup will begin afterward, around 7:30 p.m.
