After round one of the Anderson Brothers Bank Invitational, the River Bluff men's golf team exited the course at the Darlington Country Club in sixth place and eleven shots behind the leader. After round two on Tuesday at Traces Golf Club in Florence, the Gators were hoisting the trophy, after not only erasing the eleven-shot deficit, but winning by ten strokes over the second place team, James Island Charter School, an incredible 21-stroke turnaround.
The round two team score of 280 smashed the 18-hole program record.
Gator Howie Vroon, who came in after day one with a one-under 71, shot a 65 on day two, breaking the program's single round mark (which was also set by Vroon) and sending the senior into a playoff for overall tournament individual winner. Vroon won the match after three playoff holes. His eight-under score of 136 also broke the program's 36-hole record, which, you guessed it, belonged to Vroon.
Vroon didn't win the tournament for River Bluff alone, however. Sam Booth shot a two-under 70, Isaiah Bayon was even at 72, and Maddox McCamy came in at one-over 73 for the Gators' second round comeback win. Cooper Raley was instrumental in River Bluff's first round scoring with a 76.
