Men's Basketball: Gators' Comeback Falls Just Short in Final Game of Season

The River Bluff men's basketball team closed out a challenging season with a hard-fought loss on the road to Lexington 56-52 on Thursday night.

The Gators jumped out to an early lead only to see Lexington storm back to claim the lead halfway through the first quarter. The Wildcats held on to that lead with the exception of a quick Gator takeover in the third for a few seconds.

Then as the fourth quarter wound its way to a conclusion, River Bluff slowly fought its way to a tie late in the game. In a back-and-forth battle over the last two minutes, Lexington emerged with a lead with seconds remaining and River Bluff was in a must-foul situation. The Wildcats made their free throws, sealing the victory.

With a season record of 2-23 and 1-9 in region play, the Gators will not make it into the postseason. Instead, River Bluff can now focus on regrouping and preparing for offseason workouts.
