Running back Hayden Myers rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown, and the River Bluff defense pitched a shutout to help the Gators defeat Brookland-Cayce 23-0 on Friday night.
Myers led the Gators' ground game with 130 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Quarterback Brayden Moore went 11-for-23 for 92 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Tight End Hamp Pitts hauled in 5 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown.
River Bluff’s defense came up big with 3 interceptions of Bearcat quarterback Andrew Frick, 1 of which Gator defender Caleb Renwrick returned 21 yards for a touchdown. The Gators recorded 3 sacks and 12 tackles-for-loss, holding the Bearcats to just 191 total offensive yards.
Friday night marked the Gators’ second road trip to start their 2025 campaign, and the second time in a row to face Bearcats. They followed up their disappointing season-opening loss to the Bearcats of Rock Hill with a much-improved performance against the Bearcats of B-C, moving to 1-1 on the year.
River Bluff starts a 3-game home stand this Friday against Nation Ford for Military Appreciation Night. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 in The Swamp.
