The boys' squad won their race, led by junior Daniel Campbell, who finished 5th overall. Parker Branham came in 8th, and Paul Herron finished 14th for the Gators. Hudson Brown (17th) and Will Cohoon (22nd) rounded out the scoring for the boys.
The girls came in 2nd in their race. Savannah Davis finished 9th in her first-ever cross country race. Sophomore Leah Esber came in 13th.
Gator Sasha Gelfond (8th grade) won the girls' middle school race.
Coach Cameron Starr commented about his team after the race: "It was great to be able to kick the rust off and get the season started. Finishing 2nd against some very strong programs speaks to our talent and strength and shows that our runners put in the work this summer."
The Gators will travel to the upstate to compete in the Eye Opener at the Roger Miliken Center in Spartanburg on Saturday, August 30th.
