Baseball: Gators Take on James Island in Lower State Championship Series!

River Bluff and James Island will square off in the SCHSL AAAAA-Division I Baseball Lower State Championship. The series is a best-of-three format with game one at James Island Charter High School in Charleston on Tuesday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. Game two has been moved up to Wednesday night because of River Bluff's graduation on Thursday night. Game two will be played at River Bluff at 6:30 p.m. If a third game is necessary, it will return to James Island, who is the higher seed, on Saturday at 1 p.m.

James Island, the number one overall seed in the Lower State, emerged from the District Three bracket with a perfect 3-0 record with wins over Fort Dorchester, Stratford, and Fort Dorchester again.

River Bluff, the seventh-seed, came out of District Four with a 6-1 record, knocking out Wando in two straight games before falling to Carolina Forest. The Gators then played their way back by beating Lexington, Carolina Forest in a rematch, and Sumter twice to advance as the winners of District Four.

The Gators and Trojans will be competing for a chance to play for the AAAAA-Division I State Title against the winner from the Upper State bracket, which pits Dorman vs Spartanburg.
