Baseball: Gators Fall in Game 1 to James Island 10-4, Game 2 at RB Tonight!

River Bluff and James Island will meet for game two of the SCHSL AAAAA-Division I Lower State Baseball Championship tonight at River Bluff High School. It is a must-win game in the best-of-three series for River Bluff as the Gators fell on the road to James Island 10-4 on Tuesday night.

A two-run homerun with two outs got James Island on the board in the bottom half of the first inning of game one. Then, two solo shots extended the Trojans' lead to 4-0 in the second inning.

The Gators had a big third inning, which started on an Ab Wilkerson single, followed by two hit-by-pitches to load the bases. Dominick Norton drew a walk to bring in Wilkerson and put the Gators on the board. Walked Godwin became the third batter hit in the inning next, which scored Andrew Rye. Leo Zambrano then singled a line drive into right field to bring in Banks Alexander and get the Gators within one, 4-3.

James Island added a run in both the third and fourth innings to increase its lead to 6-3.

In the top of the fifth, River Bluff posted its final run of the game on a Banks Alexander solo homer to left field.

In the bottom of the sixth, with one out, James Island recorded a couple of two-run homers to extend its lead to 10-4. That would be the final score, as the Gators could not muster any runs in the seventh.

Game two brings the series to River Bluff on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
